The Yard Gallery was opened in 2005 as a temporary space for The Architecture Foundation to experiment with ways of exhibiting and communicating architecture. Located on Old Street, east London, the Yard consisted of an internal gallery and a courtyard opening onto the street to exhibit objects in an urban setting.

For two years the Yard Gallery offered a critical venue to exhibit, challenge and propose new ideas. The gallery hosted 22 exhibitions showing the work of over 100 contributors. It adopted a cross-disciplinary approach, commissioning new work by architects, artists, designers, illustrators and filmmakers. Along with self-initiated projects, the gallery hosted new exhibitions by some of the most progressive curators working with architecture, such as Pablo de la Barra's 'Glory Hole' (part of the Renegade City season) and Gerrard O'Carroll's 'Don't Panic'.

"The AF, along with curator Elias Redstone, has created something rather unique amongst art establishments - an urban space in which to actually exhibit full-scale architecture"
